Poem

Impressions on the Subject of Light

"On the headland black and shiny as a killerwhale's back
The sun, with its sword in a surprising attack
Pierces through the clouds and in a dance
Bastes a caress at the edges of the shore in silence

Mysterious light of the afternoon
Breathing on the forsythia a magical blush of yellow
As striking as a ravishing smile
On the juvenile and skittish face of a spring sky

At the end of the day, the incandescent white of snow
Makes it seem like it rises from where it lay
And floats with the muted grace
Of velvet drapes
Waltzing at a ballroom's window"
